Current Issues

Daniel Peng's Legal Fees and $15,000 RIAA Settlement Daniel is one of the "famous" college students targeted and fined by the RIAA (a recording industry political action lobby). He's a very gracious young man who is seeking donations to help pay the fine and his associated legal fees. IMHO, the case against him was wrong and should have been thrown out - see this legal analysis written by Joseph Barillari for why.

Another student, Lorraine Sullivan (and her cats), has also been Sued By the RIAA. You can help her out with PayPal donations, as well. She is speaking out against the RIAA to the US Congress.

Fight the RIAA Lawsuits p2p Legal Defense Fund And, while you're fuming at the RIAA's antics, check out Downhill Battle's Peer-to-Peer Legal Defense Fund (also PayPal-enabled) created to help other folks being sued by the music industry for file sharing.
